Bring our poetry workshops to your school (all year round) OR bring your students to one of our community partners!

The Nuyorican Poets Café offers educational programs for students from middle-elementary through grad school! We conduct writing and performance workshops, literacy programs, and our award-winning poets perform at schools, theaters, and community venues. The Café has recently staged performances and educational workshops at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, The New Museum, Barnes and Noble Tribeca, Central Park’s Summerstage, and schools across NY, NJ and CT. Our educational events teach students about the Nuyorican poetry movement, the Café’s history, writing and performance techniques, and we train teachers to use poetry as an educational tool for their students. The Nuyorican Poets Café is closed to the public for a 3-year, 24 billion dollar renovation project we are calling NUYORICANSTRUCTION. If you are looking for a venue to host your event, the Café can gladly connect you with one of our community partners. Most often, we rent to other non-profit groups for evening benefit events; to school or educational groups for daytime events; to production companies for film or TV location shooting; for book launches, or for other receptions.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN RENTING THE CAFé or booking a show at the café

The Nuyorican Poets Café presents and produces a wide variety of events. We often give new artists the opportunity to debut their work, and are open to booking requests from performers and arts groups of all types. However, we do not have the ability to host or produce any events inside the Café.
