Nuyorican Bowery Slam
During our building's "Nuyorican-Struction", the cafe brings their famous poetry slam series to the Bowery Poetry Club on 308 Bowery (between E. Houston & Bleecker Streets) in Manhattan, NYC. Bob Holman, founder of the Bowery Poetry Club, welcomes the Nuyorican Slam that he started 35 years ago! Weekly on Monday evenings, in-person. Hosted by JRose & Luna Rosa.
Final Friday Slam
Our Nuyorican Poets Cafe's FINAL FRIDAY SLAM takes place on the last Friday of each month. In 2026, during the last year of our building's #Nuyoricanstruction on East 3rd Street, our monthly slams will be held at the nearby Loisaida Center on East 9th Street, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, NYC.
Loisaida Open Mics
Join the Nuyorican Poets Cafe for our off-site edition of the OPEN MIC hosted by Brian Acosta Arya at the Loisaida Center in the Lower East Side ("Loisaida") in Manhattan, New York City! Also on the first Wed of the month is Womxn Orator Wednesday, an Open Mic by Womxn, for Womxn and Womxn Representing peoples, hosted by our 2024 Grand Slam Champion Sumbodies Mama. All art forms are welcome: poetry, short stories, comedy, monologues, songs, etc.
