MoreThan1in5.com is an online community that aims to create a safe space for survivors and allies alike where users can find resources, get informed and communicate. Created by Barnard College senior, Eliza Solomon, as an initiative part of the Athena Scholar Leadership program. The purpose of the project is creating a platform where the voices of survivors can be heard, where allies can support this community by listening and where together we can use our stories to break the stigma that keeps so many quiet.

On December 20th from 6pm to 9pm, “Beyond the #Hashtag - An Open Mic Night for Survivors” will be taking place at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe on the Lower East Side. Hosted by MoreThan1in5 and New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault and Take Back The Night, it is a storytelling event for survivors of sexual assault and/or misconduct and allies. The purpose of the event is create a safe space by which we can go beyond the viral #MeToo and tell the stories behind the posts in an effort to give voice and listen to those whose voices have been silenced. Join us at this open mic event with whatever you would like to share, knowing your presence and support is enough!
