Jive Poetic
From his hometown in Buffalo, NY to London, England Jive Poetic has ignited microphones with humorous wordplay and thought provoking verbal display. During a lengthy deliverance of revolutionary regression to teen suicide and sex, Jive Poetic opts to teach the masses a lesson in life. His incentive? Watching the reaction of his listeners.
And after winning his first slam in January of 2001, it was understood that his audience heard every word he said. Soon, Jive Poetic began to season his art form through feature performances at local New York and New Jersey venues earning his stripes as a verbal connoisseur after rave performances at the Brooklyn Moon to Serengeti Plains. The University of Buffalo graduate would later return home to claim Buffalo New York's Grand Slam title in 2002. A former member of the internationally recognized Tri-City slam team that won "The Cross The Boarder Slam" held in Toronto, Canada. In 2003, Jive Poetic became a member of the Nuyorican Poetry Cafe's National Slam Team.
While his voice is lightened in humor, his topics are heavy. Therefore, Jive Poetic prepares to release his second solo CD "The Pain of a Crowded SOLitude" a spoken word production filled with sensual images and turmoil through the reflection of social acceptance. This Album is a follow up project to his First CD "Assault with a Loaded Statement." As a mindful poet, serious performer and inquisitive speaker, Jive Poetic attempts to take his listeners in to a mind state beyond the obvious and dares you to listen, further. Advocate of Wordz
Papers, stages, mics and unfair parking tickets, the Advocate of Wordz rips them all! This Bronx native's bold and diverse tongue has been touring Poetry, Hip-Hop and Theatre venues for over 5 years now, as well as hosting various poetry performance workshops in and around New York City. He is a a founding member of "El Grito De Poetas" and a cast member of Lose Control TV. Wordz is the founder and President of HipHopPoetry.com which has received media overage by many periodicals including the LA Times and Chicago Tribune. PBS created a lesson plan for educators that include the use of HHP. In the spring of '09, the Advocate will begin his very own Hip-Hop Poetry in the classroom program at Union Assembly Middle School in Marcy, Brooklyn.
From talking your way out of detention to impressing hiring managers, Advocate of Wordz is a strong believer in "poetry" being your everyday language as opposed to being reduced solely to the moments you read, write or record. Charismatic imagery and an unforgiving truth is something he prides himself on. His personal favorite achievement was something his Third and Fourth Graders taught him a longtime ago, "remember to make poetry funner each time you write".
Wordz is proud to have published his first book "The Over Glorified Chapbook Of..." and is in the process of publishing a second book for 2009. Fans should keep a look out in the upcoming months for his very first solo CD with some suprise guest producers to be announced later this year! He is a co-producer of the "21 Poetz Mixtape" and "Neustro Gritos ("El Grito De Poetas" first spoken word album).
