Nathan P>Nuyorican Friday Night SlamMaster
Nathan P, (Nathaniel Pearson Jr.) has been a host at the Nuyorican Poet's Cafe since the fall of 2000, the same year that he was a Grand Slam Finalist. The last five years have seen Wednesday nights take on an upbeat energy that he is now about to bring to the Friday night slam as the new Slam Master.

Nathan's poetry has taken him across the country, performing at poetry venues, colleges, and universities. He has appeared in two off-Broadway poetic stage plays as well as authored two chapbooks, "Madness" and "The Colors of My MInd". The summer of 2005 saw the completion and release of his CD, "Chalklines on Black Asphalt". It is a body of work encompassing spoken word backed by music flavored with rythm & Blues, hip-hop, and jazz.

When not hosting, Nathan has built a career in which he guides welfare recipients, ex-offenders, and individuals in recovery to not only find employment, but more importantly, to find the strength to take control of their lives again. Much of his poetry is inspired from this work. His goal is to help people gain a new perspective – and from the response to his motivational speaking engagements, it seems to be working!

So, he invites you to come out on Friday nights, and as he says..."Keep that energy going....!!", as he welcomes the poets to the stage!!
