Nuyorican National Team 2008 forward:
All poets, past, present (and future!) are welcome to compete for a spot on our National Team. In other words, you may now repeat your participation if you choose. The Nuyorican has fed brand new faces and voices to the National scene for 17 years and we are sure we will continue to be able to do that, but the scene has become so huge, and poets want as many opportunities as they can to participate. The idea was brought forward by our own SlamMistress, Mahogany Browne, and the Cafe agrees the time
has come: we are an important part of a community that keeps on growing, and we want to
provide unlimited access to the Nationals each year.
Team Member Guidelines:
• You must be 21 years old by August of that year.
• In the spirit of the Nuyorican, and to encourage poetic "circulation", if you have been on the previous year's National Team, please wait one year before competing for a team spot again.
